Jackson Hole Brewery Recognized for Second Year as a “Best for the World™” Certified B Corporation For Performance and Excellence Beyond Profit

PR / Jackson Hole, WY (August, 2022) – Roadhouse Brewing Co. has been named a 2022 Best for the World™ B Corp™ for the second year in a row, in recognition of its exceptional positive impact on the environment. Best for the World is a distinction granted by B Lab to Certified B Corporations (B Corps) whose verified B Impact scores in the five impact areas evaluated in the B Impact Assessment—community, customers, environment, governance, and workers—rank in the top 5% of all B Corps in their corresponding size group.

Roadhouse built its operation with sustainability in mind, both in reverence to protecting the natural world and the beauty of the Tetons, and in recognition of the business sense it makes to operate a socially responsible and ethical company. Says Jon Courtois, employee owner, production manager and sustainability coordinator, “Our goal in everything we do centers around being good for the environment and good for business; these categories have long been seen as mutually exclusive and at Roadhouse we aim to change that way of thinking.”

By way of example, during a national CO2 shortage the brewery’s CO2 recovery system helps keep the brewery in stock by pulling CO2 from fermenting beer tanks and recapturing it to use in carbonating beer and purging cans. Like initiatives include multi-use keg sharing programs to keep motion continual during a period of nationwide freight challenges and recapturing steam to recycle as hot water instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. One of the brewery’s initiatives specific to its home in the Tetons, is a louver system that uses Jackson Hole winter air (and winter is long in the Tetons!) to hold ideal cooler temperatures 7-9 months out of the year. An array of solar panels, nitrogen generator, chemical recycling skid and onsite paktech recycling center round out the brewery’s initiatives in the environmental sphere.

Adds Courtois, “Everyone focuses on the third R (recycle), which is important and something we clearly embrace at Roadhouse, but it’s our ability to Reduce that’s our greatest strength, and in Reusing where possible we build sustainability across multiple industry touch points. We are constantly searching for ways to lighten our footprint, further our commitment, and protect our business operations.”

Every year, Best for the World recognizes the top-performing B Corps creating the greatest positive impact through their businesses. More than a badge of honor, Best for the World provides an opportunity for recognized companies to share knowledge, learnings, and best practices with the B Corp community and businesses outside of the community to encourage innovation and transformation across the business sector. The full lists are available at bcorporation.net

The Best for the Worldrecognition is administered by B Lab, the global nonprofit network that certifies and mobilizes B Corps, which are businesses that meet high standards of positive social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Today, there are more than 5,000 B Corps across 80 countries and 155 industries, unified by one common goal: building an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economic system.

“Each Best for the World edition is an opportunity to raise the bar for how businesses can and should operate to create real and lasting positive impact for their workers, customers, communities, and the environment,” said Dan Osusky, Head of Standards and Insights at B Lab Global. “While no company is perfect and even the best companies can and should continue to strive to improve, the B Corps recognized as Best for the World can provide us all—standards setters, B Corps, non-B Corps, and sustainability advocates—with inspiration on what true leadership in business can look like to make progress on addressing our current global challenges.”

B Corp Certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service, it assesses the overall social and environmental impact of the company that stands behind it. To achieve B Corp Certification, a company must meet a score of at least 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, an evaluation of a company’s positive impact, and pass a risk review, an evaluation of a company’s negative impact; change their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders; and exhibit transparency by allowing information about their B Corp Certification performance to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.

About B Lab https://bcorporation.net/

B Lab is the nonprofit network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. Our international network of organizations leads economic systems change to support our collective vision of an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. We began in 2006 with the idea that a different kind of economy was not only possible, it was necessary –and that business could lead the way towards a new, stakeholder-driven model. We became known for certifying B Corporations, which are companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. But we do much more than that. We’re building the B Corp movement to change our economic system –and to do so, we must change the rules of the game. B Lab creates standards, policies, tools, and programs that shift the behavior, culture, and structure of capitalism. We mobilize the B Corp community towards collective action to address society’s most critical challenges. By harnessing the power of business, B Lab positively impacts 150 industries in 74 countries, helping them balance profit with purpose. Together, we are shifting our economic system from profiting only the few to benefiting all, from concentrating wealth and power to ensuring equity, from extraction to regeneration, and from prioritizing individualism to embracing interdependence.
