PR / ASHVILLE, NC (April, 2020) – For the turtles AND the humans, Asheville Brewing is rolling out eco-friendly six-pack rings for all our canned beers. These fully biodegradable and compostable rings are produced by startup company E6PR and made from plant fibers. They help solve the problem of plastic waste, which can be dangerous to sea life and pollutes our earth. This is a small thing that we’ve been planning for a while, and we hope it offers a bit of happiness in these uncertain times.

“We are working to decrease our use of plastics and create a brewery with a smaller environmental footprint,” says Pete Langheinrich, Asheville Brewing’s head brewer. “We ran these six-pack rings through their paces, and they hold up great. We’re not sacrificing functionality at all. They also make great compostable planting guides after you’ve finished your beers.”

We first learned about these rings a couple of years ago, and we’ve been excitedly awaiting the time when we could start using them. We’re pretty sure we’re the first brewery in North Carolina to offer them.

Pick up an eco-friendly six-pack of your favorite Ashville Brewing beer at your local grocery or convenience store. Or have it delivered to you doorstep. We’re also open for no-contact curbside pickup at our 675 Merrimon Avenue location from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Call 254-1281, option 1, to order before you head out.

Wash your hands. stay safe. Drink local beer. Plant a victory garden. Save Mother Earth.

About Ashville Brewing

Asheville’s third brewery opened as a mash-up pizza joint, second-run movie theater, and brewpub, all wrapped up in a bright, happy, family-friendly space on Merrimon Avenue in North Asheville. A second brewpub, in downtown Asheville’s hip South Slope area, opened in 2006. That location now houses both our 15-barrel and 7-barrel brew houses, plus plenty of shiny fermentation tanks from which some of Asheville’s most well-loved, creative, award-winning brews emerge. Our third location, a pizza and beer delivery and pick-up kitchen, opened in South Asheville in 2012. Our mission is great food, quality craft beer, excellent service and fun for all ages (kids, kids-at-heart, and canines). Keeping Asheville Hoppy since 1998!
